The Bureau for Children and Families of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Aetna Better Health of WV and Kepro co-ordinate a system to authorize services in child welfare cases called the Socially Necessary Services Program.
Socially necessary services improve relationships and social functioning, with the goal of preserving the individual's tenure in the community or the integrity of the family or social system. Socially necessary services are interventions designed to maintain or establish safety, permanency and well-being for the Bureau for Children and Families' targeted populations of child protective and youth services.
Providers must be enrolled with the Bureau for Children and Families (BCF) to provide socially necessary services and those out-of-state providers with contracts with BCF are required to submit data to Kepro to receive prior authorization for services. Before providers can submit data, either directly via the APS Web site or through EDI submission, providers must register with Kepro. To register, contact WV_BH_SNS@kepro.com or call Kepro at 304.343.9663.
